Mr. Trevor Jorgensen is a licensed Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and a certified Fellow with the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants (AAPA). Trevor is also licensed by the ASCP and the State of Florida as a Histotechnologist (HTL) and a Medical Technologist (MT). Trevor received his Baccalaureate of Science degree in Medical Technology in Canada from the University of Alberta and is a Registered Technologist (RT) with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Scientists (CSMLS). Trevor's primary duties are to process surgical specimens following appropriate grossing techniques established by the pathologists. His other duties also include the cutting of frozen tissue for rapid diagnostic evaluation, assisting with digital and 35 mm photo documentation of tissue specimens, and participating in pathology resident education.
The Department of Pathology is committed to establishing an institutional tumor repository for the promotion of tissue disease research. Trevor is one of many people involved in the collection and processing of tissue for the tumor bank. Trevor is also involved in the training of research personnel in routine and specialized histochemical techniques including immunohistochemistry.
