Current Research:
At the present time, my research is focused on the molecular pathogenesis of a point mutation in DNA binding domain in the Stat5B gene in NOD mice and in patients with type 1 diabetes. I have concentrated my efforts to establish a link between mutated Stat5B in NOD mice and subsequent defects on Stat5B target genes in NOD mice in a subpopulation CD4+ T cells namely regulatory T cells.
I am also interested to map and clone diabetes susceptibility genes in patients with type 1 diabetes.
