Background
The Molecular Pathology Core (MPC) was established Jan. 1, 2001, to provide both basic and specialized histology, immunolocalization and pathology services for researchers. Staff members provide a broad range of services including training and consultation and the team has extensive experience working with human tissues in addition to many experimental models.
A wide range of immunopathology services are available for standard antibodies or testing new antibodies. Other services include TUNEL assay, fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), microscopy (light, fluorescence), image analysis, and whole slide scanning. Tissue banking and pathology support are provided for the JDRF Network for Pancreatic Organ donors with Diabetes (nPOD) and the facility serves as the Center for Disease Control's Florida Central Pathology Lab. Tissue microarray slides are available for both rodent and human tissues and can be created using samples provided by the researcher. Electron microscopy services are available through the College of Medicine EM Core.
Please contact us during planning stages of an experiment to develop the best possible plan. Services are provided to those who incorporate funding for staff and supplies as a Core facility or through nominal fees. Work is scheduled in the order received.
For preclincial (GLP) or clinical research projects (CLIA), please contact Amy Wright.
The Core is a member of ISBER
