Supplies
Supplies for submitting specimens to the University of Florida Diagnostic Reference Laboratories (UF DRL) are available at no additional charge.
- Preprinted consultation request forms.
- Tissue biopsy containers with appropriate fixatives are provided for the following needs:
- LIGHT MICROSCOPY: 10% neutral buffered formalin
- IMMUNOHISTOLOGY: Michel's solution
- ELECTRON MICROSCOPY: McDonald-Trump E.M. fixative (EMF)
Note: All of the solutions are colorless and should be stored at room temperature. If a color develops (e.g. a yellow tinge) they have spoiled and will damage the tissue to the point that useful diagnosis cannot be rendered. - Plastic specimen bags with side section for paperwork.
- Gene rearrangement kits consisting of specimen container with 50% RPMI/50% ethanol fixative, specimen bag, and a styrofoam box.
- Federal Express shipping supplies:
- Clinical Pac®, a leakproof envelope required for shipping bodily fluids and allows packaging of multiple specimens into one Clinical Pac.
- Express Pac® Envelopes, made of tearproof, water-resistant plastic, providing added protection for documents.
- Letter Express® Envelopes, 9 3/4" x 12", made of lightweight cardboard.
- Preprinted airbills showing our shipping address and billing account number.
Note: By using these preprinted Federal Express airbills, your specimens will be delivered to the correct destination and we will be correctly billed for the delivery. Even though the airbills are pre-marked for next afternoon delivery, all deliveries are made to the UF DRL in the morning.
