Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine
University of Florida College of Medicine
Intramural Funding for Projects
November 22, 1999
The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine is offering to faculty within the department the opportunity to obtain between $2,000 to $20,000 in funds for new projects. The program is designed to enhance the ability, in particular, of clinically-based faculty to conduct basic research projects on a collaborative basis, and/or to develop or implement new testing procedures which might ultimately enhance patient care. This program also will provide opportunities for pathologists-in-training to work with department faculty on projects.
The program is designed for the time period 2000-2004, based on a total funding base of $200,000 from Shands Hospital and $200,000 from the Chairman’s Development Funds. The program will be administered through the Clinical Research Committee. As detailed in the accompanying guidelines for applications, projects can be targeted towards either of these funding sources. The selection of projects for funding at the $10,000 to $20,000 level (Group A); $5,000 to $10,000 level (Group B); or $2,000 level (Group C) is entirely up to the discretion of the Clinical Research Committee, with an eye towards funding projects over the entire four year development period. Funding beyond the year 2004 will depend upon the financial status of the department.
Application deadlines are: November 1 and April 1.
