Neuropathology
The Neuropathology Section is dedicated to providing outstanding diagnostic service for UF-Shands Hospital and also provide a full range of consultation services. The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Florida cares for over 500 patients with brain tumors each year. In addition to routine morphologic evaluation, we offer a full spectrum of ancillary studies for both tumor and non-tumor diagnoses. Specialized evaluation of skeletal muscle and peripheral nerve biopsies is also offered. The section also performs routine post-mortem analyses for the Shands HealthCare system, 8th District Medical Examiner's Office, as well as outside consultations. We strive to promote patient care and physician satisfaction, control the cost of care, improve outcomes, and reduce delays in every aspect of our diagnostic and consultative services.
