Clinical Microbiology
The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the Shands Hospital of the University of Florida is a full-service, state-of-the-art clinical microbiology laboratory offering Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology and Parasitology.
Specialized microbiological services include detection of AmpC and KPC Beta-lactamases, rapid identification of antibiotic resistant gram-negative organisms within 10 hours of a positive blood culture, and gas chromatographic identification of bacteria.
Both technical and physician pathologist services are available 24/7.
