Head and Neck Pathology
The Division of Head and Neck Pathology at the University of Florida Department of Pathology is committed to the best in patient care. Dr. Christine Orlando, the division director, works closely with highly skilled Otolaryngologists, Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons, Radiation Oncologists and Radiologists. These physicians provide an experienced team specializing in the treatment and management of patients with Head and Neck cancer. Their team approach is the core of the weekly Head and Neck Tumor Conference where multiple therapeutic interventions are discussed and individualized for each patient.
The division provides accurate and timely diagnoses of diagnostic and therapeutic biopsies. Specimens we encounter involve the oral cavity, oropharynx, mandible, maxilla, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, nasopharynx, larynx, trachea, thyroid, parathyroid, salivary glands and metastatic nodal disease.
Our division is supported by a highly qualified technical staff and laboratory. We use state of the art immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology laboratories whenever indicated for the study of each patient's condition. Recent additions to our armamentarium include the rapid microwave enhanced tissue histoprocessor. This provides enhanced tissue processing that is six times faster then conventional tissue systems, and enables same day turn-around of tissue samples.
We welcome your active participation at the microscope or in consultation so that we can provide you and your patients with the personal service and quality of care you expect.
