Autopsy Mission

The mission of the University of Florida Autopsy Service is the improvement of patient care by the production of timely examinations of the highest quality that meet the expectations of clinical colleagues and the patients' families. This requires strong faculty teaching, communication with clinical colleagues, and the economic use of technology and efficient staff.

The Autopsy Service is a specialized professional consultation service provided by the physicians of the Department of Pathology of the College of Medicine. Communication between the clinical services and the Autopsy Service is paramount to the success of all services.

The Department conducts more than 200 examinations each year including consultative examinations for other hospitals and agencies.
