Background and Education:
Dr. Christine Orlando received her Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987. She completed a transitional internship at Humana Hospital Palm Beaches in 1988 and then began her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology training at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. She completed her pathology training at the University of Florida in 1992 and took a private practice position at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida. In the same year she became certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology
The Department of Pathology at the University of Florida recruited Dr Orlando in 2000. Since that time she has been appointed Unit Director of Head and Neck, Endocrine and Frozen Section (Triage) Pathology. In August 2006 she became Director of Surgical Pathology and Director of Anatomic Pathology Services at UF-Diagnostic Reference Laboratory. Recently, she has been chosen as the Anatomic Pathology Consultant to the University of Florida Student Health Service Clinical Laboratory. She continues to represent the Pathology Department at the weekly interdepartmental Head & Neck Tumor Board conference and remains on the Shands Healthcare Cancer Committee.
Dr. Orlando continues to serve on the Department of Pathology Residency Training Committee and has won the "Educator of the year" and the "Hydra" awards, both given by the residents for her teaching efforts. She remains a forceful advocate for the concept of graduated resident responsibility.
Within the University of Florida College of Medicine, she continues to be the Director of Respiratory and Mediastinum Pathology and the Co-director of Endocrine Pathology.

Dr. Orlando also gives mini-course educational lectures outside the university. Recently she gave a mini-course in Head & Neck Pathology at the National Convention of the American Osteopathic College of Pathologists.
